Math Homework!?

Question: Susan pedals her bike at a speed of 18k/h. Andrew pedals in the opposite direction at a speed of 16 km/h. How far apart are they after 45 minutes? Leave your answer in centimetres.

    18+16 = 34

    34 X (45/60)

    = 34 X (3/4)

    = 51/2 = 25.5 km

    if you want cm multiply by 100000

    Do 18 times 45/60 , because if they are only 45 out and they go that far in an hour you have to do fracctions, then do the same for 16 then add them

    Since they are going in opposite directions, their speed relative to each other is 34 km/h.

    (18km/hr + 16km/hr) x (45min / 60 min/hr) / 1000m/km / 100cm/m = cm
