was it a group of people maybe, and also to consider that back then they probably could not even read or write so how does that figure out?

Each book was pretty much written separately. The authors did not know they were going into a collection. When NT books refer to scripture they typically mean the OT, the scriptures then in existence. Later books acknowledge the letters of Paul, but no mention is made of the gospels written later than paul wrote.

Just as there are people who could program computers before Apple and IBM made it easier, people could read or write back then. It just wasn't available to all. So in the 1940s there were programmers even though most people couldn't do it.

Scriptures could not be preserved in writing until the Church could afford the pricey paper and ink and the skilled and costly labor of scribes.

There was a group of Church leaders (spread around the Mediterranean world) who chose what could be read at public services and the Christian people who accepted these decisions. There was no real group of writers.

Originally, the Hebrew tribe relied on Oral Tradition. That was the way most tribal stories were handed down. Moses is generally credited with providing the first five books of the Torah. Some of those earliest allegories were adapted from earlier Babylonian/Sumerian tales that the Jews were familiar with.

In general, it's a collection of books from a variety of authors, using a myraid of literary genres, for multiple purposes. Christ's followers kept copying by hand the letters and gospels but also relied on Oral Tradition for many years.

The bible was not actually collected into one book until around the 4th century, and even then was hand-copied until the invention of the printing press in the 1500's.

The OT was written over a period of 1500 years approx, and had many different authors (prophets) that God used to get His word to His people. Those prophecies all match up and not one contradicts.

Paul wrote 2/3 of the NT. He was a brilliant man, a pharisee and knowledgeable of the law. The four gospels were written within 20-40 years after Christ's ministry on earth.

All the word of God is given by His Spirit. He uses the hands of man to do His work, for we are in a relationship with Him.

No one knows for sure who wrote the original stories used in the Bible. All we actually know is where the stories originated and the approximate dates when they were written.

Yes, it was written by people. Many people over hundreds of years.

Yes, there were people who could write. Not everyone, but certainly we have ancient literature to prove people could write for the last few thousand years.

Most of the authors are unknown... it was a popular literary style to write books of mythology like that, even to attribute them to famous characters or figures. We will probably never know the identity of the people.

Many books were actually written that early Christians used... they didn't all make it into the final compilation of the Bible.

Originally it was mostly oral tradition. The bulk of the Old Testament plus the gospels are the work of various redactors who set down the stories that had been spread for a long time before.

Hundreds of years after the presented events men wrote the stories into books and as in all fables, folk lore and legends they were embellished some. The church selected and edited a few of these story books to create the bible in the fourth century to present to the ignorant masses "their" version of a god.

Which book or epistle do you refer to?

Obviously, one needed an education not available to most in order to record the events of the Bible, as well as write the poetry in it, or the prayers, or the prophesies. Too many people wrote too many separate sections to give an accurate historic answer.
