My daughter is starting middle school track and since I was never in track & field myself its all new to me.

a quad meet is when only 4 schools or teams participate.

An invitational is usually lots of teams even though some will restrict the number of teams so they can have a manageable number of athletes.

Participation means those that are competing in the meet.

Just pay attention to the dates and start times and when you need to have your daughter at the meet. Also it is common for the parents to have a booster club and provide snacks and sometimes meals for the athletes, so talk to some of the other parents and see what they do.
