how will the Marines help my family financially?

What's up? I'm joining the Marines and I take my ASVAB in about a week. (I've been studying and passes my Cat test with good scores) I'm joining the Corps for many reasons but my recruiter told me that the Marines will help my family financially, with bills and what not. Now I'm in a middle class family and my mom has been struggling to pay bills for the past couple of months. I know, I know if I wanted to join for money I should've joined the Army. Nothing against them it's just that I find the Marines to be a better fit for me. I also know that recruiters be bull sh*tting to get that contract signed lol. I just wanted to know how will they help out. If any help at all. I'm also going Active...Reserves is definitely not for me. Thank you guys in advance and wish me luck!!!

What the recruiter said was that you will be able to send money to your mother every month out of your pay. You won't get any extra money to help.

My sister's boyfriend was a former Marine recruiter. He said he left the service because he was tired of lying to people.

You join the Marines to sacrifice for your country, not to look after the financial well-being of your family. That is just the way it is.

ALL branches get the same pay and allowances. So the Army doesn't pay more than the Marines.

The Marines will not help your family. They pay you and if you want to send them part of your pay you can go right ahead and do it. If you were married then you would get BAH (housing allowance) to pay for rent/mortgage.

They won't. The military will help your wife & your kids. Your dependents. Mom is on her own. If she wants help from the military, tell her TO JOIN.

Well i guess it will help your family by giving you a job and a paycheck which you could in turn give to your mother.

you get paid a salary like any other job. what you do with it is your prerogative.

'family' is your spouse and minor children. no one else is entitled to any military benefits

The only benefits your parents get from the military, all branches, are your death benefits.

Yes, you will earn your pay. Then you will take your pay and send it home! That is where the welfare fund program is from, your hard earned pay!
