Men who had vasectomies years ago?
My husband had a vasectomy almost 11 years ago (scalpel then burned, ouch I know!) He has never experienced any pain or complications since the procedure, but is now explaining to me that he is in severe pain where the cauterizing took place. I've tried researching, but I can only find chronic pain issues. It was sudden with no precipitating factors. Ideas?

The "scalpel and burn" method is also known as the "traditional vasectomy". The method has been in use since about 1908. Any side effects would be well known in the over 100 years that the procedure has existed.
I had mine 30 years ago, this spring (traditional vasectomy). I am 49, so pretty much all my friends have had vasectomies. Not one has ever complained about pain.
I do not even have a hint of a scar. Exactly how can a man know exactly where the incisions, or cauterization took place when there is no scar, or a tattooed "X" making the spot? If he cannot know the exact location, then how does he know the "pain" originates from it?
I read about the alleged pain on Y!A every now and then. I think men get sports or yard work injuries, and somehow decide it was their vasectomy. I think it more likely that he is having a hernia or something.
The so called "Chronic Pain" is, if anything, a scam created by the vasectomy reversal industry to trick insurance into paying for their highly profitable service. It is possible to "whois" the sites to discover the ownership. I'll bet you the sites, that give advice on the so called "Chronic Pain"are all owned by the vasectomy reversal doctors themselves.
Tell your hubby to lay off the sports or whatever for a few weeks.

Send him to a urologist
The end of the vas connected to the testis can burst from pressure, but I have not heard of pain from that
