If you get dementia/alzeimers, do you forget things from your childhood/young adult years?

    Yes, but deeply embedded memories are normally the last to go.

    Dementia can be separate from Alzheimer's and is generally considered irrational behavior, often violent.

    My mother suffers from dementia, and her childhood years are what she remembers best. She can't remember the day of the week for ten minutes, but she can tell you all about what she and her family did during WWII.

    No.

    My Grandfather just passed away from Alzheimer's in December. Before he quit talking altogether he always spoke of his home where he lived as a young adult, before he met my Grandmother. He commonly spoke of it and spoke of <name of town he lived in> very well.
