God is a trinity of persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is not the same person as the Son; the Son is not the same person as the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit is not the same person as the Father. They are not three gods and not three beings. They are three distinct persons; yet, they are all the one God. Each has a will, can speak, can love, etc. These are demonstrations of personhood. They are in absolute perfect harmony consisting of one substance. They are coeternal, coequal, and copowerful. If any one of the three were removed, there would be no God.

Jesus, the Son, is one person with two natures: Divine and Human. This is called the Hypostatic Union. The Holy Spirit is also divine in nature and is self-aware and the third person of the Trinity.

There is, though, an apparent separation of some functions among the members of the Godhead. For example, the Father chooses who will be saved (Eph. 1:4); the Son redeems them (Eph. 1:7); and the Holy Spirit seals them, (Eph. 1:13).

A further point of clarification is that God is not one person, the Father, with Jesus as a creation and the Holy Spirit as a force (Jehovah's Witnesses). Neither is He one person who took three consecutive forms, i.e., the Father, became the Son, who became the Holy Spirit. Nor is God the divine nature of the Son (where Jesus had a human nature perceived as the Son and a divine nature perceived as the Father (Oneness theology). Nor is the Trinity an office held by three separate Gods (Mormonism).

The word "person" is used to describe the three members of the Godhead because the word "person" is appropriate. A person is self-aware, can speak, love, hate, say "you," "yours," "me," "mine," etc. Each of the three persons in the Trinity demonstrates these qualities.

The chart below should help you to see how the doctrine of the Trinity is systematically derived from Scripture. The list is not exhaustive--only illustrative.

The first step is to establish the biblical doctrine that there is only one God. Then, you find that each of the persons is called God, each creates, each was involved in Jesus' resurrection, each indwells, etc. Therefore, God is one, but the one God is in three simultaneous persons. Please note that the idea of a composite unity is not a foreign concept to the Bible; after all, man and wife are said to be one flesh. The idea of a composite unity of persons is spoken of by God in Genesis (Gen. 2:24).

He can't that's why the father is the only true God, Jesus when he was flesh said that.

and when he was in Heaven said this

2 Become watchful,+ and strengthen the things remaining that were ready to die, for I have not found your works fully performed* before my God

12 “‘The one who conquers—I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God+ and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem

14 “To the angel of the congregation in La·o·di·ce′a+ write: These are the things that the Amen+ says, the faithful and true+ witness,+ the beginning of the creation by God:+ 15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or else hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm and neither hot+ nor cold,+ I am going to vomit you out of my mouth. 17 Because you say, “I am rich+ and have acquired riches and do not need anything at all,” but you do not know that you are miserable and pitiful and poor and blind and naked,

21 For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their senseless hearts became darkened.+ 22 Although claiming they were wise, they became foolish 23 and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and birds and four-footed creatures and reptiles.*+ 24 Therefore, God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, so that their bodies might be dishonored among them. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated* and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen

Speaking of all the sons of God or angels

Job 38: 5 Who set its measurements, in case you know,

Or who stretched a measuring line across it?

6 Into what were its pedestals sunk,

    Or who laid its cornerstone,+

7 When the morning stars+ joyfully cried out together,

And all the sons of God*+ began shouting in applause?

    sounds familiar?

16 “‘I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear witness to you about these things for the congregations. I am the root and the offspring of David+ and the bright morning star.’

    Revelation 2:28

28 And I will give him the morning star.+

If you want to define God as being uncreated, then he can't by definition. Otherwise he can.

"God is a triune being. Think of H2O can be liquid, gas or solid."

I have heard many contradicting explanations of the trinity. This one is vague and seems to imply that Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Father differ as they are different states of the same substance, but in what sense are the same substance? Is it because they share the properties of omnipotence, omniscience, etc.? In this case, how are they not just three separate beings that all have god-like properties?

How could he not? If the universe is too complex to exist without a creator, then God would necessarily be more complex. Obviously something as complex as God (who is already more complex than the universe) would need a creator.

I propose Ultragod. And anyone who doesn't believe in Ultragod is an Ultra-atheist.

H20 was before creation according to genesis look at the first few chapters and it will say that god went over the face of the deep or something like that. That is why water is so important in baptism because it was before creation thus having a important significance in baptism with life and death signifies rebirth somehow.

Write the equations, or that's just a vague statement. Tell us what data that model predicts so we can check it. Otherwise it's unfalsifiable and thus should be eliminated by Occam's razor.

He's his own God because he's God and he knows what's best for himself.

What about plasma. God isn't a quadune. So your comparison doesn't work.
