Bachelor's degree with PreMed, usually 4 years
Med School (MD, DO, or DPM). 4 years
Residency is 3-7 years. This is paid on the job training.
Optional fellowships of 1-4 years.
You must have top notch grades, a great MCAT score, a full attractive well rounded resume/application, good recommendations, etc.

4 years of undergrad study, 4 years of med school and 3 to 7 years of internship (depending upon specialty) to practice alone. Plus hundreds of thousands of dollars and top marks.
