To all the parents out there how would you feel...?
How would you feel if your son/daughter told you that the majority of their memories of you are unpleasant ones?
Would you feel hurt? Frightened? Angry? Shocked?
I'm curious to know because I feel like every parents wants their children to look up to them, and I think it would be disappointing (maybe heartbreaking) to find out that your kid can't recall very many good things about you. I'm not a parent myself, so I don't know.
jimanddottaylor Its the unphotographed moments that are normally the most vivid memories. No one frames and hangs the unhappy pictures, but those moments are more memorable and often more important to children becoming adults. I only have vague memories of most of my family vacations to be honest. But I can perfectly remember any of the times one of my parents has put me down by yelling at me. Food for thought. I hoped this provoked new thoughts for everyone.

Shocked, because I had a great childhood, and I think my kids had an even better one. I would want to hear what they were thinking of. We have several photo albums that appear to be pretty happy times.

I would be sad and angry at myself. It would inspire change though you can't make up all the lost time. In today's society, it's hard to make time for your kids while trying to provide for them. I would give anything just to homeschool my daughter just so she could get a good education while also spending time with me. But this is unrealistic for most people. Sorry went on a tangent there. Don't have kids till you are financially stable hahaha I learned the hard way yet I am always grateful for my daughter! ☺️

Failure would be the biggest one which pretty much encompasses all of those emotions. If you want to feel better about your parents ask them about yourself from when you were younger. They will hopefully only recall good memories that they would want to share and that might help you remember.
