When theists say that their deity is not part of the physical world and therefore we can't expect scientific evidence of its existence...?

What are they basing this claim on? Is there evidence to support their statement, or is it just personal belief/apologetics?

Neither the physical heavens nor the earth can contain God.

1 Kings 8:27 “But will God really dwell on the earth? Look! The heavens, yes, the heaven of the heavens, cannot contain you; how much less, then, this house that I have built!

    Psalm 147:5

    5 Our Lord is great and is mighty in power;

    His understanding IS BEYOND MEASURE.

Since God is a Spirit, we, physical beings, can only worship Him by means of His holy spirit which is His active force, or His power in action.

    John 4:24

God is a Spirit, and those worshipping him must worship with SPIRIT and truth.”

The true God is spirit, not flesh (Joh 4:24; 2Co 3:17), though he sometimes likens his attributes of sight, power, and so forth, to human faculties. Thus he speaks figuratively of his “arm” (Ex 6:6), his “eyes,” and his “ears” (Ps 34:15), and he points out that, since he is the Creator of human eyes and ears, he certainly can see and hear.—Ps 94:9.

“All things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him,” and he is “the One telling from the beginning the finale.” (Heb 4:13; Isa 46:10, 11; 1Sa 2:3) His power and knowledge extend everywhere, reaching every part of the universe.—2Ch 16:9; Ps 139:7-12; Am 9:2-4.

It's arguing from a Presuppositional viewpoint.

Basically they assert God exists, then try to justify why God doesn't appear to exist.

They even admit that Presuppositionalism is logically invalid, since they're begging the question... But that doesn't matter, apparently, because God actually exists.

    I'm an atheist but...

Usually 'god' is defined as the creator of the physical universe, thus must be separate from it.

But then again just take a step back further and you'll see God creates reality, and so he must not be real.

You can learn a lot about a person, having never met them in the flesh, by the things the person has created, has done, what documents there are, and what other say about the person. Similarly, The creator has given us the evidence of his existence in the sciences we study, the art we make, the conscience we have, the ability to love, etc.

You are taking about the deluded therefore normal logic doesn't

    apply to them,

they can claim any nonsense that comes into their mind and there's

no way of convicting them that they are wrong or mistaken.

it is called special pleading or the ah but response i.e.

question "so why can't I see god"

answer "ah but he is invisible"

it's the same logic use to explain to children how Santa Clause travels round the world in one night

so basically a made up response to fit their belief

There is evidence for immaterial objects. Most of the arguments for the existence of God offered by philosophers is based on the existence of immaterial objects, such the laws of nature, logic, and mathematics, or the existence of moral absolutes. Using symbolic logic, you can actually prove that if it is possible for a self-existent and non-contingent being to exist, then such a being must exist by necessity.

So, to answer your question, yes - there is evidence for an immaterial being. That doesn't mean that the evidence is convincing, especially to those who do not want to believe it - but it is incorrect to say that a belief in God is based solely on blind faith or subjective experience.

Evidence and God can't even be in the same sentence. What do they base this on??? It is so when they tell us how sily it is that we believe something came from nothing, and we point out the irony, they can say God exists outside of time and did not come from nothing he always was......

There's plenty of scientific evidence for the Bible. I would recommend checking out some of Kent Hovind's creation seminars. Start with this one on the age of the earth, this video proves it is literally impossible for the earth to be billions of years old, and thus the darwinian evolution theory must be thrown out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOPcr1N6NvQ

A creator is never a part of its creation. A creation, however, can be a part of the creator.

Like the sun is a part of the Milky Way, but the Milky Way is not part of the sun.
