If the Watchtower order mass suicides would the Jehovah's Witnesses obey?
- You say there is no "earthly" leadership, yet you have the Governing Body of Elders. I think it is rather deceptive to say you have no earthly leaders. The Governing Body of Elders "govern" you, what do you think that means?
@ Gary - Christians will not order other Christians to protect pedophiles, refuse blood transfusions, shun family members, etc. See where I am going with this?

But JWs already practically commit suicide in obedience to Watchtower!
Ask yourself: what typically happens when a JW is faced with a fatal medical crisis that can only be resolved with a blood transfusion? In obedience to Watchtower, the JW will suicidally refuse such lifesaving treatment! So JWs are already committing suicide in obedience to Watchtower!
And before the JWs claim they're obeying God and not men, remember, it's not the bible that forbids blood transfusions. The bible forbids *eating blood*. Watchtower is the one who pharisaically twists bible texts to apply to transfusions. At one time Watchtower also forbade organ transplants and vaccinations and JWs back then also suicidally obeyed Watchtower to their own detriment!
JWs are ultimately followers of Watchtower (not christ) and they are willing to destroy their faimilies, their future and their very lives, to obey Watchtower!
So if Watchtower ordered mass suicides I have no doubt that a significant percentage of JWs will in fact obey because they are already suicidally obeying Watchtower under the guise of obeying Jehovah. But obviously, not all will obey. It bears noting that even at the People's Temple mass suicide at Jonestown, not all the members obeyed the order to drink the cool aid. Those who refused were shot.

This is a fear a lot of people have. I would sincerely hope not and I would pray that a command like that would wake up many of them. However, other cults involved in mass suicide also thought they were doing the right thing. They had promises, too, or so they thought. I did ask my mother about this when the 2013 article Grey Tower quoted came out. She said she would obey no matter what they said, probably as far as even suicide. Such a terrible thing and it's heartbreaking. They really haven't a clue how much control they're under.

We obey what the Bible says. Not what men say. Psalm 146:3
3 Do not put your trust in princes*
Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation.Do not put your trust in princes*
The Watchtower knows this therefore we all obey what the Bible says. We preach how Jesus told us to do. True Christians preach about God’s Kingdom. God sent Jesus to preach about the Kingdom. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Jesus continued speaking about it until his dying day. (Luke 4:43; 8:1; 23:42, 43) He told his followers to preach about God’s Kingdom. If someone approaches you to speak about God’s Kingdom, to which religion does he likely belong?—Read Matthew 10:7; 24:14.

CHRISTENDOM’S churches have human leaders, such as the pope of Rome, the patriarchs and metropolitans of the Eastern Orthodox churches, and the heads of other religions. Jehovah’s Witnesses recognize no human as their leader. They are not disciples or followers of any man. This is in line with Jehovah’s prophetic utterance concerning his Son: “Look! As a witness to the national groups I have given him, as a leader and commander to the national groups.” (Isa. 55:4) The international congregation of anointed Christians and their “other sheep” companions want no leader other than the one Jehovah has given them. (John 10:16) They subscribe to Jesus’ statement: “Your Leader is one, the Christ.”—Matt. 23:10.
2 Servants of God find no pleasure in being maligned as evildoers, yet they are not surprised when people speak against them. Jesus forewarned his followers: “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. . . . It is that the word written in their Law may be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’”* (John 15:18-20, 25; Psalm 35:19; 69:4) Earlier he had told his disciples: “If people have called the householder Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household so?” (Matthew 10:25) Christians understand that bearing such reproach is part of the “torture stake” they accepted when they became Christ’s followers.—Matthew 16:24.

No.
That will never ever happen because all life is precious to our God and we too view life as he does. We look forward to living forever here on earth. We have too much to live for---the global preaching work, being Gods fellow workers, being a part of the most extensive life saving ministry that has ever taken place, enjoying the beauty in creation, our worldwide spiritual family of more than 8 million Brothers and Sisters, having Christ Jesus as our King and knowing that we are obeying his commands to preach the good news, seeing the fulfillment of all of Jehovahs wonderful promises, looking forward to the destruction of "Babylon the Great" the world empire of all false religion, and to the end of all imperfect human ruled governments. We long to live to see Jehovahs Government replace all governments that now exist.
As true Christians, we love Jehovah God and his Son and we love life, and we love our neighbors as we love ourselves and we respect and obey Jehovahs laws regarding the sanctity and sacredness of life.
So again, the answer to your biased and hypothetical question is a resounding NO !!!!
Try asking your question to Catholics, Baptists and Methodists. Don't just target one faith.

You folks keep saying that we are a cult who will obey the governing body in everything they say. You are insinuating that we will also kill ourselves if we are told to do so, like the Koresh's Branch Dividians, the people in Jonestown and Heaven's Gate folks. That is completely a false statement.
What you folks fail to understand, or make sure that people are misinformed about, is that we tell our students to make sure what we are teaching is truth and that if you do not agree with what we teach then do not become a Christian. Not everybody will become a Christian after hearing the truth about the Bible. Not everybody will stay a Christian after becoming one.
Christians will not order other Christians to commit suicide. If they did, they will show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
Christians will not order other Christians to murder in warfare. If they did, they would show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
Christians will not order other Christians to have adulterous affairs. If they did, they would show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
Christians will not tell other Christians that it is okay to be Christian and practice homosexuality. If they did, they would show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
Christians will not tell other Christians that it is okay to incorporate another religions traditions and holidays into Christianity. If they did, they would show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
Christians do not tell other Christians if they do not worship God as a trinity being, they will go to hell to be tortured forever. If they did, they would show us that they do not have God's holy spirit with them.
See where I am going with this?
edit:
Christians will not order other Christians to protect pedophiles, refuse blood transfusions and shun family members.
Christians will not associate with pedophiles. We shun pedophiles.
Christians understand that blood is sacred and that we are not to put it into our bodies. We are told by our Christian brother of the 1st century to abstain from blood.
Christians value our family members. We do not shun them. I associate with my non-Christian family members on a regular basis.
We choose not to associate with people, family members included, who were once Christian and reject the Christian way of life and our God because our Christian brother of the 1st century tells us that this is what is right.
I know you do not understand and put the values of this system ahead of Christian values and standards. I hope one day you will recognize this.

I sincerely doubt that any Jehovah's Witness would commit suicide at the request of their leaders (because that would be a sin against Jehovah God), but a 2013 Watchtower article contained instructions for all Witnesses on being totally obedient to their Elders when the world turns against them (prior to Armageddon).
Watchtower study article ‘Seven Shepherds, Eight Dukes – What They Mean for us Today’: (3) “At that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint. All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.” (Watchtower 15 November 2013, p 20)
Put this instruction into the future when the Witnesses believe they will be persecuted and driven underground, sometime during the great tribulation and before Armageddon. Who are they going to obey? Now put that into the context of these earlier instructions:
1 May 1957 Watchtower, page 275: Show Respect for Jehovah's Organization: "In this way Paul identifies Jehovah's wife as His invisible universal organization, the mother of Christ and of his joint heirs." "If we are to walk in the light of truth we must recognize not only Jehovah' God as our Father but his organization as our mother." They then went on to apply the fifth commandment, "Honor your father and your mother" as being Jehovah God and the Watchtower organization! They end saying, "Today, also, God requires and exacts from his children obedience, honor and respect. These must be rendered not only to the living God himself, but to his wifely organization as well."
4 January 2007 Watchtower, page 24 paragraph 12: “When we loyally submit to the direction of the faithful slave and its governing body, we are submitting to Christ.”
15 July 2011 Watchtower, page 24: “We need to obey the faithful and discreet slave to have Jehovah’s approval.”
15 July 2013 Watchtower, page 20: "That faithful slave is the channel through which Jesus is feeding his true followers in this time of the end. It is vital that we recognize the faithful slave. Our spiritual health and our relationship with God depend on this channel.”
Being loyal and obedient to their leaders is perceived as being loyal and obedient to Jehovah God himself, such is the power and authority the seven men of the Governing Body have ascribed to themselves.
The only question any loyal and obedient Jehovah's Witness would ask if their leaders told them to jump would be, "How high?"

I doubt it
and I greatly doubt JW leaders would ever demand that since they are opposed to suicide

I doubt it. My mother is a jw and I know for a fact that she wouldn't
