What HCG levels are considered normal at 5.5 weeks?
My first blood test at 4 weeks after LMP showed my HCG levels were at 649. I went to the hospital 10 days later for stomach cramps and spotting (everything turned out to be just fine) and they took a blood test that showed my levels are at 34,423 at 5.5 weeks after LMP. I've been looking online and there is not one direct answer, and all of them are much lower than mine. It might be a silly question but are Canadian measurements for HCG different? I'm very confused as to why most women are in the 1000's at this stage of pregnancy.
I'm going for another ultrasound/blood test in about two weeks, I will post the results then.

There is a range, but that is very high for 5.5 weeks for only one fetus. You might be looking at multiple fetuses.

I had my ultrasound today, I'm 8 weeks and 6 days along. My HCG is still extremely (in the two hundred thousands) high but the doctor said it's nothing to worry about, that it's just my body producing a lot of the hormone. He said normally that can mean twins but my ultrasound shows only one.

5.5 weeks after your period? That's 7.5 weeks pregnant. 34,423 isn't high for that gestation, much less very high. The normal range at 7.5 weeks pregnant tops out at over 200,000 hCG mIU.
