This sounds as if the time and age has come. And it is here and now. You see the world impresses upon us its impressions of all sorts, i.e. of us in it 'being good and wise'. The world sometimes manages to convince us quite effectively how bad it would be to hurt other people, or to make them feel unhappy, and, how stupid it would be to have others around us in disagreement or thinking bad about us.
But the time it seems has now come to change all that, to put thing right, to bring ourselves back into the equation. You see if you keep ignoring yourself you really end up being pathetic, and hypocritical, trying in vain to make others around you pleased and happy. I suggest you think of yourself first, be kind and decent here first, and then reach out to other people, to do the same. This way no one in the world would feel being left out.

I would say that there is not an obligatory age when this should take place rather it is the period of a man's life when he has gained knowledge and perspective to know his life's calling. Once he has found his direction he should pursue it with passion. This may actually mark the passage from boyhood into maturity and emotional adulthood.

Now. Whatever age he's at. And to attempt to do so without harm to anyone else. That's not the same as pleasing them. The difference is crucial to understand in his quest to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Modern psychologists treat the period from 35 to 40
years as middle-age crisis period. Most of the people
may not feel much during this period. However for those
few persons who experience its full intensity, it will
be like a mini-death. In English, 'flourit' means the
age of dawning of wisdom; it also means the age of 40.
(See a multi-volume dictionary in a library). Energy in
the body will be at its highest during the youth period
from 25 to 40 years of age. Generally, Buddhi
(intellect) starts functioning after the age of 40
years, but it may take longer for others. You can not
blame a teenager or a youth for not having it. It is a
general observation that only person aged beyond 40
years are called intellectuals.

The period from 40 to 60 years is called the
declining period of youth-hood. It is also the period
of gaining wisdom.
LIFE BEGINS AT 40 -- "Middle age marks the start of a welcome new stage
of life. Maturity is the best time of life. Generally attributed to
American writer W. B. Pitkin (1878-1953).
Researchers from Great Britain and the U.S. analyzed data of more than two million people and spanning 35 years. They analyzed them for
depression, anxiety, happiness and life satisfaction.
They found a U-shaped curve in which people reported being happiest in their 20s and in their 50s and older, but that both men and women were more
likely to be depressed and were generally less happy in their 40s.
