What is a "mother board" on a computer?

In computer talk, programming and what not, you get very technical, coincidentally, when you're talking about ports you're talking about male and female ports, if you're talking about HTML, then there's parent div's and child div's, technical.

A motherboard (single word, not seperated), the two keyboards being mother and board, the mother part obviously holding up the components of your computer and board being what it actually is physically.

A motherboard nicely connects the memory (RAM), storage drive'(s) (HDD / SSD), graphics card'(s), and processor. It also comes with a BIOS which essentially remembers settings for components and manages everything hardware based.

You *need* a motherboard to support everything and connect it all nicely, it's a middleman for everything else on the computer and delegates the simple task of actually producing a simple motherboard to one company and making high-tech CPU's to another. The structure of your computer is the best for help moving the world forward efficiently as possible.

Motherboards come in different shapes, usually just called "Form Factors," and more expensive ones just have nicer features like profiles to manage different settings, easier flashing (updating the BIOS), better controls, etc..

It's basically the main control of the entire computer. It connects all of the other parts together so they work in unison. It's like the mothership of aliens, it's where all of the operations are made

To put it simply, it's just the main board. It's that board that you plug everything into, such as cpu, gpu, ram, dvd player, hard drive, etc. It's the part that connects everything together.
