    I'd say better.

Israel provided safe haven for a lot of displaced people around the world. True, there are a lot of displaced Palestinians....but, honestly, Israel isn't as responsible for that as people think. Many left to avoid the war of annihilation their brethren waged onto Israel and lost, creating the problem. Though it should be noted that there is a solution, one Arab nations haven't been willing to implement in contrast to what Israel has done for its refugees. Israel has integrated them, and has do so in an impressive manner. Not only did it take in a great portion of Holocaust victims and provide for them (more impressive considering the war they had to fight, their size, and the fact that they were building a nation and didn't have that kind of infrastructure to take care of them) but also took in the lion's share of Jews from the Arab world, which outnumber those Palestinians who left. Not surprising, as less than 1% of the ancient community remains in the Middle East outside of Israel, yet Israel itself is ~20% Arab. This isn't mentioning the other Jewish groups that they've taken in and worked to integrate like the Ethiopian Jews, whom they literally flew out to escape persecution and had to teach the entire community (which was large) how to use modern day appliances they'd never seen before. And, actually, Israel has taken in or at least provided assistance to other groups as well within their nation.

Israel's charity work is actually quite impressive, if you actually analyze it. For example, in the recent Nepal disaster they sent one of, if not the, largest aid teams. They have more boats on the ground than you'd believe, actually working instead of just providing funds (which, don't get me wrong, is good too). Prior to that, they were noted to have the first functioning field hospital in Haiti, which a lot of critics in the US noted and asked why the much closer US team had troubles. Israel actually provides a lot of aid all throughout the world, and some teams have been noted to enter hostile areas to provide care. No, seriously, they do. One organization known as SACH has worked to bring children from nations Israel lacks relations with, like Iraq and Syria, into it to receive life-saving medical treatment. They do that routinely, on Israel's dime. And, there have been cases of Israelis going into those nations as well, if you look hard enough for those stories.

There are other nations which do benefit greatly from Israel's presence, for example both China and India have drawn from Israeli expertise to help with their agriculture. With both populations growing as they do, they do need help, and I know that Israel has helped both grow and produce more high quality foods. Though, they also have helped India strengthen their security as well, which might be bad until you realize it might also help keep the calm they currently have with Pakistan. South Korea is looking towards the Israelis as well, for potential help in the future. And even the Kurdish people - a nation without a country of their own - have benefited because the Israelis have provided them assistance throughout the years, since the Arab, Turkish, and Iranian nations they live in really have been oppressive.

On the more scientific and technological ends: Israel is a powerhouse, especially given its size. It has the second largest tech area outside of the Silicon Valley, which is inventively titled the Silicon Wadi, and more start ups that most nations multiples of its size. It's called the "Start Up Nation" for a reason, and I'm always hearing about Israeli companies being bought by huge tech giants for them to use. In addition, many have Research & Development facilities in Israel as well. Intel's is the most famous, as Intel Israel created the Centrino Duo Processor chip which is created with saving the company singlehandedly. A lot of people used computers with it, so that's huge, and besides that you probably aren't even aware of the other advances in your computer which might be Israeli in origin. Though, ignoring that, there are also a lot of medical advancements in Israel, and perhaps some of those have been helpful to you as well. Though, they've been helpful in general, as a many things like therapeutic drugs were developed there.

I could go on, but honestly, Israel's impact should be recognized as more good than bad. This would be VERY apparent if, instead of trying to annihilate it, the other nations allowed it to exist from the beginning. Imagine what good they can do if they didn't have to divert all that money to self-defense and maintaining the strongest military.

You mean the one in 1000BC or the one in 1948AD?

Anyway, If we hadn't had the first one, western civilization wouldn't have been what it has been. Imagine the dark ages, but never ended.

No Judaism? No Christianity, that's a basic given.

Islam is greatly influenced by Judaism and Christianity, so there may not have been any Islam worth mentioning either.

Some other power would have developed, since nature abhors a vacuum, but would it have been better or worse than the world that never was, without Judaism.

All we are, good and bad, goes back to that tiny little tribe that wrote down a sequence of unbelievably provocative images of a future that just might be, and changed the world.

The creation of Israel was a blunder. It should have been the state of Palestine in which Jews and Palestinians alike were all granted automatic citizenship, but the flag--if it HAD to feature the Star of David--should have also included the Star and Crescent or some other Islamic symbol. It should have been a secular democratic government that treated Jews and Palestinians equally, where both religions were equally protected without either being endorsed by the state beyond being incorporated into the flag. And there probably--I know this is going to earn me a lot of hate, but--should have been some kind of wealth redistribution program so that (relatively) rich Jews didn't swoop in with all the economic power over native Palestinians.

Some kind of democratic socialist government should have been established.

Wow. I have never in my life endorsed a democratic socialist government before... But in Israel's case, I think that's the way they should have gone.

Worse but not because of the Jews, because Muslims are violent and intolerant. Muslims tell us evil Jews have stolen all their land and are oppressing them.

Some Muslims even blatantly lie about the situation. They say things like "The Israeli's have kicked out all the blacks in their country and shipped them to Africa" - but that's a lie. Israel has embraced black Ethiopian Jews and has actively assisted in their immigration to Israel.

One must remember its a secular state now... the city of God was destroyed in AD 70... we are looking to heavenly Jerusalem that will come down out of heaven from God at the resurrection. God bless you, greetings.

To me it's a prophecy. Those who are hating God will hate it, those know what God is doing will be encouraged about it. I'm encouraged.

Don't be too quick to judge my answer. I doubt if most people are aware of what God is doing with Israel or people. The nature of people even is a question they ponder, and they are people!
