The Earth's magnetic field is generated by its spinning nickel-iron core, and it deflects the solar wind from the Sun.

  • The earth is not an electromagnet, so there is no "flow of current" that it captures. It does capture the solar wind, however, and it is powered by currents of liquid iron in the interior (i.e. the dynamo effect).

An odd question - the magnetic field is *created by* the Earth's interior.... So.. E.

Would that fiend be the Joker, Jack the Ripper or Dracula? Be more specific.
