Rusted through truck bed?

I have a 1985 Toyota pickup that is a 4x4 short bed. The bed of the truck has rusted through on both sides. What can I do to make this bed workable again. The holes are just past the rear tire and the holes are large enough the I worry stuff will slide out through them. I have looked for replacement beds but can not find one. Thanks for your help in advance.

how's the frame. Toyota had a massive recall on certain Toyota trucks due to the rust. recalled almost all during those years but that was several years ago and the recall ended. if the frame is as bad as the bed I wouldn't bother doing the work. with the money you would spend you might be able to find a truck in better shape

If it is that bad, you may be able to get some thin galvanised sheet and fold/ beat to fit, then rivet on and coat both sides with a tar type underseal. Galvanised roof sheets beaten flat usually works.

Would be better to chop out and weld in new steel & repaint it if the rest of it is decent though.
