The word itself isn't hypocritical or contradictory or legit or consistent. It's just a word.

If you're talking about a particular member of that category, you should have asked a different question.

as an adolescent (back then) I heard that the bible says we must become a "child" (have a child's attitude about religion) to be able to enter into the kingdom of heaven. And a child's attitude is although questioning it doesn't have anything to do with delving into any religion deeply, tearing each scripture apart to understand it, comparing religions, etc. Today (a lot of or most) "people" are trying to understand each word of their church's bible (and Jesus said not to do that).

When you talk about "religion", well there are many religions out there (although most lead to one maker) so therefore that part can't be hypocrite, and we know it's legit since somebody or something had to make us, create us, have the idea to do so.

Religion is only contradictory because of the several religions that are out there and it's because "people" themself who believed a religion chose to change it to suit themselves therefore we have many different religions. And in some cases these churches just fell away from a main church/temple.

Then to answer your final word, the bible is not consistent because (it's the only "word" we have) it's stories from many different people. We're not supposed to delve so deeply into the bible, and not all religions insist that their parishioners read or delve into the bible, and so a lot of peple don't know it's inconsistent, but again it's made by stories from several different men and from different generations or times in history. So sure people being people are going to see things differently or hear things differently as the words have been passed down.

But there are basics that run thru all those stories, and "those" ARE consistent. In additiion we have leaders who tweak some rules, but generally not the basic ones. So my answer would be that from a child's point of view, well a child believes on faith and trust. So religion is about faith and trust.

Most religions that exist today have evolved into what they are now through natural selection of their philosophies, the most objectionable of which have been eliminated or de-emphasized, and the most acceptable of which have been kept. Almost all religions exploit the neurological phenomenon of "otherness" that exists naturally in the brain, that part of your mind that speaks but which you don't feel you have control over. This is how the mind works normally, but if you tell people that it's a deity making you think and feel in a certain way, you have no way of refuting that. And the natural pattern-seeking behavior of the higher brain functions cause you to make connections within the religion that aren't actually there.

It's a lot deeper than what meets the eye. There are mysteries in every religion that most seem to miss. Only if they knew the truths behind the mystery, then they would find undeniable truths that reveals itself in life. I say your entire question is true depending on who you are asking. For some it would be hypocrite and contradictory and to others legit and consistent. So, for all, it's really 50/50. But for me, it's all a mystery. I see the mystery and I see it's truths. I mean in all of them. They are but one path,..... understanding, knowing, and action.

People focus more on the religion that their worship to God. Serving God is a way of life. Most religion today act as a social club. The things they do is based on traditions and popular ideology. God standards and principles are concrete not changeable because people has their preferences.

“Your own ears will hear a word behind you saying: ‘This is the way. Walk in it, you people,’ in case you people should go to the right or in case you should go to the left.”—ISAIAH 30:21.

We do benefit by obey God's laws. Isaiah 48:17 This is what Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: “I, Jehovah, am your God, The One teaching you to benefit yourself, The One guiding you in the way you should walk. 18 If only you would pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Many or most religious people are hypocritical in my experience. All religions are contradictory in their doctrines.

A religion is not a person so it cannot be A hypocrite, it would be hypocritical or a hypocrisy.

I would suggest education education education before snap judgements. You can't even write a sentence and you are qualified to judge thousands of years of thinkers and scholars. Is there not some disconnect there?
