Religion is twisted in meaning by the people who claim to believe in it. A lot of christians use Christ and the religion itself in name of personal, selfish reasons to justify their actions and ignore the true core values and teachings of Christianity itself. A very good example would be murder in the name of religion.

That Jesus had some poor ambassadors... Just like today.

Half the people that label themselves as Christians, aren't. They pick and chose the parts of the bible, they want to abide by and completely disregard all else. Or they have been lead to believe they are, by a bunch of money hungry preachers, who spew out a prosperity gospel or pick and chose what should be taught. Or they simply have had a false conversion, but think it's legit.

I find it fascinating that every Christian who answered excused or exempted themselves. This explains what Gandhi meant.

I agree with him. There a very few real Christians in the world today. You only have to look at how many 'Christians' condemn each and every Muslim and appear to have only hate in their hearts, to understand this.

He probably meant that he had seen Christians who professed to follow Christ do things Christ would not have approved of. So, not only was he wrong in life, no matter how much people admired him, his words continue to steer people wrong long after his death.

He was noticing that christians are not perfect, like Jesus Christ is, Who is busily forming Himself in christians, a little at a time, through love.

In the meantime, the only difference between them and regular people is that they stand before God forgiven for their sins, and knowing Him to varying degrees.

Gandhi said he likes Christ so he likes Christianity. He said he likes Christianity but not Christians .This means he hated the sins human Christians committed and therefore hated Christians. However, if he hated Christians, then he must have hated himself too because every human is a sinner

If I judge what Ghandi said by his actions, he meant for that statement to further his political goals - one of which was to (politically, publicly) distance himself from Europeans in general and the British in particular, but without distancing himself from Muslims (who believe in Jesus to a limited extent).

The wearing of the cross used to signify someone who believed in a loving god and acting like it sadly it now appears to symbolize someone who practices intolerance and persecution towards others!

I think he meant...l have an excuse to be sexually perverted,

to be suicidal with dark thoughts bcuz of how Christians were in India...two wrongs.

How do You think it would have gone had he met Godly, humble Christians?

I think it was a trick...he meant it, but tricked by his dark side.

You can google this info as I did.
