How do I approach the manager of another department about cross training into his department?( I have the approval of my current manager)?
I am a hospital employee. I am looking to cross train to another department for career advancement. My current position is somewhat related to that occupation so, I do have the basic skills. I am not sure what to say or even how to approach that department manager. Any suggestions?

"I'd like the opportunity to speak with you to learn about your department. I've cleared this with my manager. Could we set up a time?'" Don't get to concerned with having the perfect pitch, It's all about courtesy at this point. Just by you asking, they'll know what's up. The conversation will flow once you have a meeting. Just then say you're interested in advancing your career.
