Wait, cons there's a major contradiction in your thinking. How can you say socialism doesn't work, then say Hitler was a socialist?
He built the country up using supposedly socialist policies, then turned it into a massive war machine and paradise for german people?
So this means one of two things, either socialism works, or Hitler is not a socialist.

Hitler wasn't a socialist. He was a fascist, which is a form of totalitarian conservative. Socialism is a essentially liberal progressivism. Bolshevism, Stalinism, and Soviet communism, could be called totalitarian progressivism. Hitler was essentially the exact opposite of a modern socialist.
Also, Hitler's economy wasn't that good. It's biggest problem was reliance on slave labor.
Socialism does work. Look at the Nordic countries. I just got back from Finland; except for everything closing at 4 pm, it was a lot better than America in about every conceivable way.

I don't like getting on the whole "Hitler was [fill in the blank]. You are [fill in the blank], too, so that means your aims are as those of Hitler" type of argument.
But, that said, what's your definition of "worked"? His administration (for lack of a better word) didn't last too long, so we really can't speak to its long-term viability.
Lots of things may appear to work well in the short term. I could take out a loan against my 401k and go on a first-class, year-long tour of the world. I would sure enjoy that year, but then what?

Socialism only works when combined with White Nationalism.

Hitler was a fascist in theory, but, according the the Horsehoe Theory of politics, when put into practice, there is no difference between communism and fascism. Look it up

constantly being at war and killing millions of jews may be your idea of paradise but forgive me for having another vision of paradise
