I'm obsessed with KPOP and everything Korean :/ Anyone else in the same situation?
I found a video of Call me baby by EXO during March and was only obsessed with them for a whole month. At that time I found it hard to like other groups but eventually ended up falling in love with all others. Ever since my summer holidays started, all I do is watch Korean shows or KPOP from morning till late at night. I love watching variety shows where celebrities come as guests since it really shows their personalities better. It has come to the point where I really wish I was Korean and that I could become a KPOP idol and what not. I absolutely love their sense of humour, their way of communicating and their culture. I feel like I'm obsessing over it too but at the same time not. I hate going a day without watching atleast one Korean show as it makes me feel I'm one with them in a way. My favourite groups are EXO, GOT7, WINNER, iKON, SNSD, BIGBANG, KARA, SHINee, RED VELVET, 2NE1, SISTAR & many others. At first I used to find it hard liking new groups but however since a lot of the members attend variety shows, I start loving their personality and end up liking their group. Idk what's happening to me I don't even listen to english songs that much anymore :/

YAY! Someone who can relate to me:)! While typical teenagers listen to english pop music and watch tv, I go obsessing with Anime and Kpop. Yes, I most likely don't even know half of the famous people/singers and get surprised faces from my friends saying "You don't know this person?!" But who cares about them? I'm not going to force myself to be "normal". Honestly, if someone forced me to listen to english songs and watch tv I would be soooo bored and it'll feel like doing homework (lol). A lot of people will say "These kpop guys are so gay" or "but you don't even understand Korean". But kpop is what got me into listening music and I mean come on, it's just music in another language. I mean as long I'm not forcing anymore to have the same interest is fine. Also, oh my gosh! I'm kinda new to kpop and I can't stop obsessing over Beast! I've tried to look at EXO, Super junior, Seventeen and all that, but I'm finding it so hard to to not just adore Beast. Any, long live kpop ;)!

Don't worry I am in a similar situation to you however for me it started with Korean drama and then I just got onto that side of the internet. I'm Australian and it's funny because often I even have youtube adds in Korean now. Just to let you know, you are not obsessed with everything Korean. Imagine someone telling that they were obsessed with the UK, you asked them what with and they said one direction. So yeah. Happy kpoping.

Everyone is a bit obsessed with Korea and Japan , nowdays.
Kpop is backed by the Korean goverment , these groups are trained to be appealing to most people!
Japan has weeaboos and Korea has koreaboos.
You can enjoy their culture and music but dont get obsessed with it

YES. I come from a half Korean family though so I kinda grew up with Korean stuff. But YES KPOP. I plan on going to Korea after I graduate.

Yes!!!!, and I am not ashamed :) Im glad you are obsessed too better late than never - I got into kpop in 2005 and have never gone back on it since, I even converted some people into loving it too.

hahahah i got that sickness in 2008 my friend. it started with FT Island, i remember their debut. and than Dbsk&jyj, than BigBang i was just obsessed with that 3. i like shinee too. i dont like all the kpop groups actually its weird but i dont want to goninto them all it scares me haha. anyway i was talking about kpop obsession. i used to live only with that bands day and night, i was searching "g dragon-seungri cute moments" on youtube. and sometimes "ft island funny moments". and sometimes "jaejoong sexy". yeah. thats right. i learned korean, i was planning going to korea for uni, those are all between 2008-2012. now i am 20, in uni in Turkey, and you should know that its just because of your age AND YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT k dramas and kpop is not the reality. real life is in the streets and you will see that real life in korea is not different from any other country. i still love korea but IT IS NOT A WONDERLAND. also celebrities dont live the life they show. god, kpop companies....
