Will healthcare facilities deny me the job because my ear piercings?
I am a male who is studying to become an occupational therapist assistant and was concerned that I would be denied by most healthcare facilities because of this. They are small little 8mm 20 g hoops. I really like them and have already suffered 8 years of denying it because the way society views men with earrings. I don't mind if I cannot wear them while working. I am just concerned about getting a position. I'm sorry if I may have sounded harsh about society! :S

Most facilities I have worked in have had dress code/appearance policies which typically included some type of prohibition of visible tattoos and inappropriate jewelry. The definitions vary depending on the employer. You might want to talk with people working in your area to see what the local policies are like. You would be best to interview dressed conservatively and without anything that might be against anyone's policy, and then figure out if you can wear them on the job later.

Medical facilities are pretty conservative institutions. They tend to be fairly strict on piercings and tattoos. It would be best if you interviewed without them and found out policy once you got the job.

Yes u will get passed over , legally, for some one with no piercing.
Take them out for ALL steps of employment processes.
After u complete probationary period start with small ones to let others a custom to them.
