Are the suburbs around Detroit also bad areas? If not, which suburbs are good to move into?

    I have plenty of friends that live in the city w/ no problems.

    I used to live in Redford, and I know a lot of people that think it's not ok. I have relatives in Ferndale, same thing

    Livonia gets high marks on national surveys. Also: Plymouth, Northville, Novi, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Huntington Woods, Framington, Farminton Hills, West Bloomfield, Rochester, Rochester Hills. The list goes on.
