I need a guide for Star Wars?
Hi.
Let me get straight to the point, I have not seen any Star Wars movies, and I wasn't really planning on watching it.
But recently I saw the trailer for Star Wars Battlefront thats coming out soon and it looks AWESOME! Even though I'm not exactly a fan of the franchise, the game looks epic. I plan on buying it, but I dont want to play the game without having any knowledge of the Star Wars universe.
So I need a guide/list of Star Wars movies/animated series that I can watch to understand the story.
I know that I should have seen the series by now, but hey, better late than never right?
PS: If there is a movie and animated series that covers the same story, then I would prefer watching the animated series.
Also, pls name the movies that I should watch, and the order in which I should watch them.

The main Star Wars story is told in six movies (so far, with more on the way). They did 4-6 first:
Episode 4: A New Hope (1977)
Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Episode 6: Return of the Jedi (1983)
Then later they did 3 prequel movies:
Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (1999)
Episode 2: Attack of the Clones (2002)
Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
None of those were animated. I suggest you watch those movies, in that order.
They have also had some TV specials, some TV series, and one additional movie, which all expanded on the main story. Some of them gave additional details on minor characters from the movies. Some of them told what happened in between the movies. Things like that. And some of those were animated. But I don't think any of them gave a summary of the entire 6 movie main story. You can see a list of them in the upper right hand box here:

And some additional details on them here:

the battlefront game only covers the movies but if you want more knowledge on the the universe then you're in luck because disney bought the star wars franchise. theyve denounced all of the preexisting expanded universe as part of canon so all you need is to watch the 6 movies, the new one coming up. The new animated series star wars rebels is on disney xd but kisscartoon.me has them all free and ready at disposal. Marvel just started releasing star wars comics but they aren't all that necessary.

Start with the original films, which I think are by far the best (a new hope, return of the Jedi, the empire strikes back) Then, if you want to, watch clone wars which are the prequels of the originals. Then watch the new films.
