Answer Violations?

Is anyone else finding that tney are having numerous answers reported as violations - answers such as those pointing out a question doesn't make sense, is to wide (eg 'tell me about the history of England'). There appears to be some self important individual trawling through every answer to make these reports. There appears ro be no mechanism for reporting that individial as the reports are anonymous

Update:

Thanks for the heplful comments. I've been on Y!A for upwards of 10 years or so, and have long past the maximum points, so loosing points is really no big deal. However, the whole issue of these violation reports has become stupid. I do not want my email box full of nonsense as has been the case recently. So I am ignoring Y!A from now on, I'm sure I can find better things to do with my time

Not for me. Those type answers are considered non answers and are violations unless added to an actual answer that answers what was asked. We are required to answer what was asked or ignore it if we cannot provide a helpful answer.

Two of the most basic guidelines are A question must be a question and an Answer must answer the question asked.

You show -120 points this week so someone has decided reporting you was something to do. You can of course appeal any violations and winning will hamper any reports from the same individual /s.

If you appeal and lose another 10 points is deducted.

Yes, last Sunday i got about a dozen in 20 minutes or so. Appealed all of them got most restored. Took 3-5 days though.

But my reported answers were Yahoo links to solutions that problem asker had.

An answer to an question can not be a comment about it. If the question makes no sense, etc, either ignore it or see if email to the asker is available.

To specifically answer your question my answer is no.

Yes,I think most of us have experienced that while seeing serious violations ignored.I am fortunate in getting many restored however.

Trying to help a poster by telling him his question is too vague or in wrong category is a cardinal sin on here. Avid bored reports pounce on those type answers with glee to boost their pitiful egos.

Yes, sometimes the reporters are way out of hand. But then, considering reporters are the same people who post here (including the people who post insults, spam, and non-answers), it's to be expected.
