Why do people still insist that Obama was not born in the United States?

Question

They say he was born in Kenya and is muslim. That he was brought to the US and applied to colleges as a foreign student. Even after he showed a copy of his birth certificate, they said it was forged. An investigation was conducted by Sheriff Joe Arpaio which was completely biased, and conducted by a detective as racist as the Sheriff. Let s assume for a minute that Obama was not born in the US? How would he be able to pull off being President? He had to be investigated. Why would they allow him to lie his way into office? He is not an illegal applying for a construction job. He was running to lead the country. Wouldn t the US government automatically find out if Obama lied about his citizenship and expose him. And if the Sheriff s investigation proves that his certificate is forged, why did the department of justice or congress ignore it? I just don t understand how someone can get away with this so how can any sane american believe Obama was born in Kenya?

The way conspiracy theories work, actual evidence doesn't matter. If a government official says something, they're just lying. If a document is presented as real, it's a forgery. And the burden of proof is on the other side - it's not their responsibility to prove that their conspiracy theories are true, it's Obama's responsibility to prove that their allegations are false.

Some people just get so wrapped up in political ideology that they lose their ability to see how irrational their beliefs really are.

Well, in the past there has been speculation that Obama's real father is a man by the name of Frank Marshall Davis who purportedly appeared in pornographic films with his mother. They say that she was ashamed, gave birth to Obama in Kenya, and then falsely accused Barack Obama Sr., of being her baby daddy.
