We really don't know.
My guess is that if we were or are "meant to be" something, that is what we are.

You assume that there is a 'meant' and therefore there is a plan for us to be something. Perhaps there is. Perhaps some of us but not all of us are what we should be. Perhaps there is no plan. We will never know and can only speculate. I don't think we are meant to be anything except what we idealise. Be the best person you can be. But that's a belief not a fact.

Are we really what we are meant to be?
~~~ Only people 'mean' things.
We 'meant' to cook the fish perfectly!
There is no one that "means" the Universe to be anything!
What is, simply is what Is!
All 'meaning' exists in the eye (thoughts/imagination/ego) of the beholder!
Our DNA currently programs us to become what we are "meant to be" physically but shortly we will be able to "tamper with" this program and decide for ourselves what we are meant to be. Further, in our cultures or societies, we can choose which potentialities we will strive to make realities.
There is no "meant" - using that word implies a great power has purpose and intent, Well there is no beard in the sky. We just evolved.
Yes, we are.
We as a species are a vast collection of DNA combinations = We were, and remain, meant to be harvested.
