Legal Advice: Can I Do Both Immigration and Notary?
I live in the city of Los Angeles. My roommate owns a tax business out of an office he rents. The office has 4 rooms. Now he wants offer both immigration and notary services. I would have the license do do both. SO here are my questions. Would I work under this company as an indepentent contractor? If yes, can I advertise both services or not? Or sould be be the one to advertise and use my name as the person doing the work? What is confusing is trying to advertise both services with out breaking laws and working under a company as a contractor. I need help.

Being a notary is easy, and it doesn't conflict with any other licenses, as long as you adhere to whatever conflict of interest requirements your profession has.
As to immigration services... you'll be walking a very fine line. Getting an authorization from the USCIS won't save you from being prosecuted by the state for practicing law without a license.

Notary shouldn't be a problem. A Notary is simply an official witness that the court trusts. Anybody with a clean background should be able to get a Notary commission. You just have to make sure you don't notarize your own work product.
