Was it right to impeach Clinton? Should he have stepped down from presidency like Nixon?

It was right to impeach Clinton. It was also right to find him not guilty. He did lie to a court (about his affair) - so the impeachment was legit. But the Congress decided it wasn't bad enough to remove him from office, which was also legit. The system worked perfectly.

Nixon only stepped down because he knew he would be impeached AND convicted. (It takes both.)

The House actually found grounds to impeach Clinton.

It then went to the Senate where they found him not guilty.

Clinton was never actually impeached since the Senate did not support the House ruling.

Nixon resigned because he was told up front that the House and the Senate would be in unison.

The Clinton impeachment was politically motivated. The pending impeachment of Nixon was not. The worst thing Clinton would have done for the future of the American presidency would have been to resign under such circumstances.

Clinton obstructed justice and committed perjury, to deny justice to a Democrat woman he had verbally assaulted. He should have been convicted. And yes, since his crimes wre worse than Nixon, yes he should have resigned the presidency. That he did not, shows what Democrats FEEL about the sex harrasement laws.

Nixon had committed crimes related to his job, Clinton hadn't, and he was very right to not step down. Clinton took his punishment too, and didn't rely on a buddy to pardon him like Dick did.

Considering he was found "not guilty"... no it wasn't right.

Nixon stepped down because even Nixon was certain of the coming conviction of Nixon. He decided he'd rather be the "only President ever forced to resign" than the "only President removed from office."

An "honest crook" would have resigned, but being an Bible Belt Christine Clinton could not admit even when presented with the evidence that he committed a crime. And with a Senate supporting him he did not have to.

CLINTON was a liar and a perjurer but one thing clinton was not is an honorable man. Yes he should have been impeached but the democrats in the senate protected him.

Was not impeached. His issue was personal and a family matter. He was cheating on his wife, of course he is going to lie! But its ok if Bush had his war all around and built on lies.
