    I'm not aware of any "curse."

    The Pope did excommunicate him, because of his killing of John Comyn inside a church. But he also later lifted the excommunication, and recognized him as the legitimate king on an independent Scotland.

    Although to be clear, we need to know which "Robert the Bruce" you are referring to.

    Generally speaking, if no number is given, it means the 7th Robert Bruce, who became Robert I of Scotland when he was crowned king.

    His ancestor the 2nd Robert Bruce was supposedly cursed, but it was by the Archbishop of Armagh, not the Pope.
