is downloading tv shows off of the internet for free illegal?

im just wondering because i want to watch all of the big bang theory episodes in order.

    Yes, and you do run the risk of the studio contacting your ISP with a cease and desist letter, depending on where and what you download. The ISP may or may not shut down your service... It just depends on a lot of variables. I don't believe TV Shows are statistically as carefully tracked by the studio as big blockbuster movies are, but just because you have less chance of getting caught, that shouldn't justify you downloading it.

    Typically the people who are actively uploading the copyrighted materials are more likely to get in trouble, though.

    It's only legal when done with authorized websites like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. All others are illegal.

    you can download them but recopying or distributing them is illegal, i think.
