How do connect the notebook to the tv so I can see what's on the notebook on the tv?

I got an HDMI to mini USB cable to connect the two but when I switch the tv to the HDMI source It says there's no connection. What else do I need to do to make this work?

    I assume you mean HDMI to mini HDMI. Once connected, your notebook now needs to be told to use the HDMI output (its not automatic in most cases). On most laptops it's a FN-F1-12 key combination. Look for a function key that looks like 2 screens. Cycle through it 3 times. In other words, if it's F2, press FN-F2 3 times slowly. That will cycle through the different display settings (1 is laptop only, 2 is HDMI only and 3 is laptop and HDMI simultaneously)

    Your HDMI mini must be badly programmed, best way is to have a computer with an official HDMI port.
