Must I report it to my employer if I had surgery?

Most of my work involves desk duty and I have a release to return to work from the doctor. I'd like to keep the operation private however I'm wondering if there could be any repressions from doing so even though my doctor says its okay for me to perform my duties.

It would be a good Idea. Because if anything happens and you tell your Boss why this happened they would be upset that you didn't tell them sooner.

You do not have to tell them what surgery you had but if you needed FMLA papers filled out for your place of work, that information will be on there.

You don't need to tell them personal medical information even if on light duty you don't need to tell them why.
