Can the effects of caffeine last all day?

I have no tolerance to caffeine and I drank a cup of coffee at 6:00 AM this morning and I don't really feel tired. I also slept pretty poorly last night and woke up 3 or 4 times last night. I've been drinking lots of water to flush my system. Will this wear off soon?

It only takes 45 minutes for 99% of the caffeine to be absorbed through these membranes. In humans the half-life for caffeine is anywhere from 4 to 6 hours on average, which explains why the average energy drink or coffee's effect lasts about 4 to 6 hours.

From what I've read it can stay in your system for up to 12-14 hours. You sound like you might also be sensitive to it. I am too. I can honestly not even drink more than 1-2 cups of decaff coffee in a single day. Even the small amounts left in that makes my heart beat too fast and I feel just awful.

In my personal experience, it should wear off. I sometimes have a mocha, or a frappacino with caffeine, and I felt extremely jittery. After waiting a while, and drinking some water you should be fine.... I was. Good luck!

Sounds like you're particularly sensitive to caffiene, however it may be that there are other reasons for your problems sleeping.

The only way to know is to consume zero caffiene for a week (coffee, tea, soda, chocolate)- if you're still having problems then it's not caffiene. Then you can look at what else might be causing your sleep disturbance.
