Permanent Resident Card?

My friend s permanent resident card is about to expire on Monday 03/07, however she has applied for US citizenship already and they have recieved it and she s currently waiting for her interview and biometrics. The thing is her employer(HR) reminded her about it, she was told she can t continue working with her resident card expired. She made an appointment on infopass to get an extension but her appointment wont be until 03/17 thats 10days after her card expires. What can she do? she can t afford to lose her job? what should be done? What other documents can she provide to her employer so they won t fire her or idk. Or can they fire her for that? knowing she has filed for us citizenship? And shes also scared that her boss would use this excuse to get her terminated. please serious answer only.

What a hogwash, all of it!

First, at the time one applies for naturalization, the Green Card, has to be valid for at least another 6 months. If her N-400 was accepted with a shorter duration, she may get lucky, or the I.O. will ask her to fill out an I-90 first.

Second, a Green Card holder's status doesn't expire, even if the document, the Green Card expires.

Finally, a Green Card holder doesn't even have to show her Green Card for work an I-9 form purposes, EVER. She can fulfill the document requirements by showing her driver's license and unrestricted SS card, which she should have. If she doesn't have one, she can get one tomorrow! Have her look at the 3 lists of accepted documents at the bottom of the I-9 form.

the green card had to be valid for 6 months on the day you file for citizenship ...or you threw away $680

Permanent residents of the United States eighteen years of age or older must carry their actual valid green card at all times. Failing to do so is a violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act, carrying the possibility of a fine up to $100 and/or imprisonment for up to 30 days for each offense. Only the federal government can impose these penalties

Green Card has to be valid for 6 months before you've filling U.S. Citizenship application. In addition green card holder's status does not expire.

she can invent a time machine, go back in time, and renew her card when she was required to do so.
