how long can i ask to delay a new job?

i recently got a new job at amazon though I hurt my hand(rsi) at my old job how much extra of a time delay can i ask for? a few weeks? a month?

    You can probably ask for 2 weeks (time to give notice). Anything more and you are pushing it - companies hire when they need people and sort of build in the 2 weeks (they also like two weeks so it is common courtesy). If your hand really hurts and you cannot do the job, you can say something like you need to get some affairs in order including a two week notice and ask for 3 weeks...a month is really pushing it.

    You can ask, but they may rescind the offer if they need someone right away.
