Did Jesus say that eternal life will be given to those who might know (believe) his Father is the only true God and that his Father sent him?
John 17:1-3 Father the hour is come; glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you. As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should GIVE eternal life to as many as you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they might know (believe) you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
It seems to me you have all missed the point I am trying to query. This often happens when one reads the Bible and is already fixated on a particular interpretation. So I'll re-write the question with emphasis on what I am really querying.
Did Jesus say that eternal will be given to those who might come to know you, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, 'and' Jesus Christ whom you have sent?
.
Sorry, I missed a word, it's eternal life.

I commend you for your search for the truth, I have also search this same question, but I have discovered that Jesus only used the term Eternal Life when he was speaking to a person of Jewish faith, when Jesus talked to people who did not believe in Moses he used the term Everlasting Life.
Jesus even went as far as to command those who believe in Eternal Life to search the OT for the words Eternal. Being that I have done every thing Jesus commanded that I do or not do, I have search the
scriptures of the KJV and found that the term Eternal Life is no where to be found. After I read John 6:31-58 exactly as it is written in the KJV I discovered that John 3:14-15 go together and that Moses is he false prophet that was prophesied would come before the true Christ Jesus came.
----------------------- John 5:39 ----------------------
This what happens when just one word is changed, you are taught a lie and you believe that lie as if it is the truth.

Yes, that's part of Jesus' prayer just before He and His disciples left the upper room to go to the garden of Gethsemane.
His prayer shows that the glory of the Father and that of the Son are closely connected, and the death by which Jesus would glorify God would lead to eternal life for believers. In verse 8 Jesus added that all the disciples (apart from Judas Iscariot) were certain that Jesus had come from the Father (in Heaven), having been sent by the Father. He then said that the Father had given Him His own name and that the power of this name would protect the disciples He would shortly leave. From verse 20 He prayed for those who would believe in Jesus in the future, praying for that unity of faith (belief) to unit them all, "Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." Then the world would believe that the Father sent Jesus.
It is an awesome prayer and for nearly 2,000 years, it has been answered, with billions of people believing likewise, that the Father sent the Son into the world, and that this is the true God - and eternal life so to believe.

Knowing God is more than believing in Him and His son.
The demons believe in God does that mean God will grant them everlasting life?
James 2:19
You believe that there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder.
When you zoom out and read and meditate on God's Word The Bible you see that much more than belief is needed.
Hebrews 5:8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. 9 And after he had been made perfect, he became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those obeying him
Obedience is required. Jesus told Christians to go and preach about God's Kingdom and to teach others to OBEY all of the things Jesus commanded. Matthew 28:19,20
Lastly, think about a friend of yours. When you were coming to know them what did that involve? Was it simply believing in them and their existence? Of course not. It means that you're growing closer to them. You're learning more and more about them. What their personality is like. Their likes and dislikes. What kind of person they are.
James 4:8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you indecisive ones.
What is the first step in coming to know someone? Learning heir name. What is Gods name? Psalm 83:18
May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

I think *perhaps* you are failing to understand the usage of the word "might" in that context.
That usage has the meaning "expressing a possibility".
So - paraphrased - it's
- And this is eternal life, so that they have the possibility (or opportunity) of knowing you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
--and not--
And this is eternal life, maybe knowing (but unsure) that you are the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Notice how it is worded in other, modern translations:

Yes but Jesus is not talking about a superficial knowledge of God . He is talking about really coming to know Gods personality, his likes and his dislikes. Along with this knowledge comes action. The demons know God, but they do not obey him. So Jesus is also talking about knowledge that moves us to conduct ourselves in a way that pleases God.

"Did Jesus say that eternal life will be given to those who might know..."
No, there is NO LEGITIMATE EVIDENCE of any kind to show he ever existed, or said anything.
It is an unproven cult story.

I don't remember who said it, but "every problem contains its own solution".
The Scripture you quoted in your post answers your question quit adequately. Granted, more Scriptures can be used, but this should be sufficient.

You have cited and quoted the scripture directly from your Bible. That is the source of truth. Believe it. Warm regards.
