How is the old self taken off, dismantled, and forsaken... that the NEW self, in and according to Christ, may be put on, and take over?
Do not lie to one another. After all, you have taken off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge, according to the image of the One who created him. Here there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, savage, slave and free; but Messiah is all, and in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience— bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony. Let the shalom of Messiah rule in your hearts—to this shalom you were surely called in one body. Also be thankful.

“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters—and yes, EVEN HIS OWN LIFE—he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.
(Luke 14:26-27 TLV)
Why can we not be Jesus' disciple truly until we "...hate...father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters---and yes, even our OWN LIFE also?
Bonus Q: Seeing how that our Lord likens the surrender of our "old self", and the renouncing of all that is considered our "own", to a King that is going to war with another King, does this explain better how we are as an enemy King that is AT WAR with the Lord Himself, until we surrender to His Sovereign Kingship and ask for conditions of PEACE?
Here is that reference for the Bonus Q:
“Or what king, going to make war against another king, won’t first sit down to consider whether he is able with ten thousand to confront the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If not, while the other is still far away, he sends an ambassador and asks for peace. So in the same way, whoever does not renounce all that he has, cannot be My disciple.

It's great how well Christ's word transcends time and place.
I might say only very slightly different wording even today in 2016 -- Unless you love Christ so much that the worldly life of worldly people is only dross to you in comparison, you aren't there yet. When you find the Jewel, you will know.
Finding Christ.....It's like you find a jewel of overwhelming beauty and value in a field. You go and sell all you have to buy that field and have that jewel.
You might recognize that last paragraph above as a paraphrase of what He said.
I can't find a better way to word it than He did, and I think that's important, because it will always be true. We can't make a doctrine that is much better than only a temporary crutch, but Life is Christ, and all else here is like dust.

You must be Born Again from above, that is the old must die and be born again, but this time your spirit will be born from above and enter into a new bottle and be begotten into this world. No man has ever ascended to paradise, he that has not ascended has no knowledge of heaven, or the true laws of heaven, but one that has come down from heaven brings the truth from heaven.
Jesus said, "If I put off the flesh I can not tell you", without the flesh the Christ can not be heard or seen by those in flesh.
The words Jesus spoke is truth, they are the words of our Holy Father, Seth I beseech you to understand the words written in John 6:31-58
And become a "Disciple of Jesus Christ", not a follower of the churches, a Christian. Follow Jesus

I can't vouch for anyone else, but my change was so gradual I did not even realize that I was being transformed into a new creature. Whereby the former me was mean and selfish the new me is kind, compassionate, and giving. And believe me I did not even try to be this way, it just happened.

Scripture teaches us how to make our spirits rule over our flesh bodies. It's a requirement for entry into heaven. We do this by studying and applying NT scripture lessons.
To God, we are all like wild horses that he wants to break for his glory.
Let him.

Do you REALLY need a holy book to tell you not to lie???? I mean, that's pretty much just common sense!
I didn't bother reading the rest of that wall.

We are told to spiritually almost literally "put on Christ, " like a garment of covering.
The same way, Christ is our covering in the Salvation of our souls through the efficacious blood of Jesus Christ.
When transformation and conversion meets up with forsaking all and clinging to, then we are almost ready to begin the walk of faith.
Jesus Christ forsook all, on his road to Calvary, and set the example for all to follow--
Colossians 3V5:"Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
V6:"For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
V8:"But now ye also put off all these,; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."
Mortify means "put to death" by a figure of speech "members" is put in place of the various sins that exist in, and seek to express themselves through, different "members" of the human body.
"Therefore" looks back at the old life in v3, inasmuch as they are "dead" to sin, they are to make this death to the old life a reality in daily living.
"The old man" is all that a person was prior to salvation: his worldly thinking and sinful acts.
Since this was all renounced at conversion, one should "lie not."
"The new man" is the person one becomes after conversion: he possesses a new nature, values, aspiration, and a new life-style.
This "new man" is constantly being "renewed" or developed until he attains a mature "knowledge" of the God who (re) "created" him.
The more a believer knows and understands God, the more he will be like God in character and conduct.
Not only is the "new man" to put sin to death, he is also to put away man-made barriers that divide people and that nourish the vices of the old life. Among renewed humanity there are no national, ceremonial, cultural, or social distinctions.
To the redeemed "Christ is all;" that is "He" is everything, and He is what matters most to them. And "Christ is ...in all:" that is, He dwells in all believers.
EDIT: Some of my favorite quotes you put for your explans. thumbs up.

Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Sin causes us to be separated from God which results in spiritual death. The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins through His death on the cross so we could by faith in Christ as our Saviour have forgiveness of sins, unity to God, salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Christians are not perfect and whenever we realize we have sinned, we repent!
As long as a human is physically alive on the earth, they have the chance of repenting and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour (Hebrews 9:27). If a human being does not accept the Lord Jesus Christ while alive, they will die in their sins and spend eternity in torment (John 8:24; Acts 2:31; Luke 10:15; Revelation 20:6, 10, 13-15). It’s not in Satan or evil spirits to repent.
Sins are destructive to the soul, they bring curses and they invite and allow evil spirits into our lives. The great thing is that when we believers sincerely repent (regret that we have sinned and turn completely from sin), God forgives us and cleanses us.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jesus made it clear in John 8:24 that people who don’t accept Him are unable to be cleansed of their sins.
John 8:24
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
We Christians know right from wrong (Hebrews 10:16) but we aren't perfect and although we slip at times, we repent and are cleansed and strengthened (1 John 1:9; Titus 3:5). Hebrews 10:26 tells us that if someone goes on deliberately sinning without the desire to repent, it shows they are not saved – which means they do not have genuine faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. It also means they are without the Holy Spirit who God sends to those who are Christ's (John 14:26) and are not undergoing Christian Transformation (2 Corinthians 3:18; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Hebrews 9:12-14; Titus 3:5).
Those who say they are Christians but are not repenting of their sins are not Christians and are on the wide road to Hell (Matthew 7:13).
The Lord Jesus commands us to repent:
Revelation 2:5
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Our sin nature is made up of iniquities. Iniquities are tendencies that cause us to sin and they pass down the generation line (Numbers 14:18). In the Christian Transformation process which makes one more and more like Christ, God cleanses our sins AND our iniquities:
2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Hebrews 9:12-14
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
After genuinely accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, ALL sinners (adulterers, alcoholics, liars, drug addicts, fornicators etc.) will be saved and AS THEY REPENT they will be transformed by the cleansing of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and the renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Without God, the spiritual part of the human being is dead (Ephesians 2:5, Colossians 2:13). The sin of our first parents (Adam and Eve) caused the separation between God and man. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Sin causes us to be separated from God which results in spiritual death. Christ, the 2nd Person of the Triune Godhead was made flesh (through the immaculate conception) and paid the price for our sins by dying on the cross so we could THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST AS OUR SAVIOUR be instantly redeemed and united to God and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who teaches us, comforts us and grants us fruits to live in righteousness and gifts to help and edify the Church. The only way one can receive redemption and union with God is through receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as one’s Saviour.
The truth about Jesus Christ can be found only in the Holy Bible. Three days after the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, He resurrected from the dead (Luke 24:1-8; Acts 10:40; 1 Corinthians 15:4) and 40 days later, He ascended into Heaven (Acts 1:3; Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:9-11).
REDEMPTION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
Because mankind is incapable of meeting God’s standard of perfection necessary to abide in God’s presence (Romans 3:19-20,23), God sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay the total debt for the believer’s sins and mercifully credits to his account Christ’s righteousness (Romans 3:21-28,5:1-11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21). Jesus’ gracious act of atonement was complete and covers all sin (Colossians 2:13-14; 1 John 1:9). Salvation is not based on good deeds but according to the mercy of God (Titus 3:4-5). Believers are justified by faith; it is a gift by God’s grace (Romans 4:3-8; Ephesians 2:8-9). A true, living faith will result in a desire to live a holy, loving life of good works (Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 5:6; James 2:14-26), but failure to be absolutely successful at righteous living does not negate the believer’s justified status.
If you sincerely say this prayer, your sins will be washed away, you will be redeemed to God, be saved from eternal torment and inherit the Kingdom of God:
"Dear Jesus,
I am a sinner.
I repent of my sins.
Please forgive me and save me by your shed blood;
come into my heart.
I want to receive you as my own personal Lord and Savior.
Amen"
