i am new to exercising a total amateur, i have been doing a little bit of running but i now want to do cycling instead?
i started running to get fitter, its been great running, its tough but i feel that i am getting a little fitter every time i run, the problem is i run in a field instead of a proper track and the surface is uneven and bumpy and i feel that its what causing me to have pain just above my foot so i think that if i am to continue exercising i will change from running to cycling. my question is cycling even as good as running, i know it wont burn as many calories.

Any type of exercise is capable of burning the same amount of calories. It doesn't matter what the exercise is, it matters how hard you do it and how hard your heart is working. So if you want the same type of workout you get from running, then you'll have to bike fast or bike up hill so you work harder. That's all there is to it. I stopped running and went to biking when my knee started hurting me. I also injured my foot years ago from jogging on a trail and stepping on a rock which bent my food sideways, so be careful when running on uneven surfaces. My point is that I still continued to get into the best shape of my life and lose more weight when I switched to biking. But don't forget, diet is the most important part.
