What is "heavy weight" in exercise?

im a beginner using an exercise book for beginners that does not bother to explain what "heavy weight" means

here is what it says:

" in your first warm up set you want to do 12 reps with about 50 percent of your weight"

from the book bigger, leaner , stronger

It is referring to 50% of you working set, which you are to lift for a total of twelve reps so s to warm up the muscles or muscle group prior to doing the working set(s).

The "heavy weight" will be twice that of your first warm up set and you should only be able to do up to six reps with that weight before you reach a point of positive momentary muscular failure.

Read the whole book before you jump into training so that you have some idea as to what you think you are going to be doing....It is a fair, not a great, work out plan.

50 percent of the weight that you can complete 12 reps with.
