Question about circumcision?
So I knew that they do genital mutilation in the US of their newborns, but recently I found out that they only do it to baby boys and it is done as a pre-punishment for rape. It's apparently a new thing to battle rape culture, the pain of the genital cutting punishes them before they are old enough to commit rape plus the reduced sensation in what's left of their genitals makes them less likely to want to rape. I was just wondering do you think this is extreme? Has it helped at all with the rates of rape in the US?
I also heard that it's done as a result of male privilege, to try and take away some of the male pleasure and level the playing field between the sexes. Is that true?

Where the hell are you from? You don't have a clue. Don't believe those who have told you these things because it sounds like anti-American BS.

I don't think that male circumcision in infancy, in the United States, a pre-punishment for rape. It became customary mostly for religious reasons. After those religious reasons fell into disfavor, new reasons relating to male health were invented. Now the validity of those newer reasons are being questioned.
Male circumcision prevents men from experiencing the full range of sensation from sexual activity. Men who were circumcised as adults report a major loss of enjoyment and quality of life as the result. The majority of men, apparently, do not even know what they're missing.

Circumcision is not done as a "pre-punishment for rape." I've never heard of it done for that reason at least. Most parents have it done due to religion, tradition, and culture. I personally am not a fan of it, but there are some benefits, such as a decreased risk of urinary tract infections and some sexually transmitted diseases. In most cases, if not all, it has nothing to do with rape.

It's pretty mild. It has done a lot to curb rape in the U.S. Circumcision is down vs. prior decades...and...looky here: rape is up! Hmm.
--Update--
No, it hasn't done much to level the playing field. Men's penises are generally still longer than women's.
