My car stereo and date/time central part of my car won't work?

I have a 2003 Vauxhall corsa, the radio is a CDR 2005. When I turn the ignition on in my car no date or time appears, it remains blank, and the radio doesn't come on at all, no matter how hard I press it in. I thought it might be the whole central unit that is broken but the lighter works so my phone still charges and the heaters work. Any idea as to what is wrong with it and how I can fix it without taking it to a garage? I have already spent £650 getting it through the service and MOT so I don't want to spend anymore. My grandad left it me in his will, I've never driven it and I'm due to start driving it on Thursday.

The date/time display is the display for the stereo unit - it has no connection to the lighter or heaters.

First take the radio unit out and use a multimeter to check to see if it gets power when the ignition is on.

If it doesn't have power, check the relevant fuse, and the wiring from the fuse box to the audio unit.

If it has power, try to get a used radio from another similar age Corsa from a breaker's yard (making sure you get the security code for it, as it will be different than the one for your radio)
