Mental Issues - Can't Sleep?

Okay, it's not really like insomnia. I CAN sleep if I allow myself, but I keep choosing not to.

I do have mental issues such as the following -

Hearing voices

Hallucinating

Anxiety

Depression

Self Harm

3 Personalities

Reckless Behaviour (drinking, inhaling solvents, bruising and hitting myself)

So I don't know if they have anything to do with it (I'm getting a diagnosis soon but I haven't got one yet).

A month ago I took an overdose of ibuprofen and I was in hospital.The hospital I was sent to first was so busy I didn't get a bed so I didn't sleep AT ALL. Then I was referred to a different hospital where they had beds, and even then I didn't let myself sleep until about 12AM the following night. I stayed in all weekend.

Ever since then I just haven't wanted to sleep anymore. Not at first, but recently I've sort of.. stopped bothering.

I'll stay up all night on my computer/phone etc then at 5AM I will get ready for school and go.

I'd really like to know why I'm doing this.

    Most likely. Like self harm and reckless behaviour, those are side effects of your other issues. Your diagnosis seems to include schizophrenia and at least some sort of anxiety disorder (which could explain the depression) or depression (which would explain the anxiety) as the two are often connected.

    Regardless, stay safe and hope you feel better.

    Self harm is a symptom of depression; it means your brain is not producing sufficient serotonin. Depression is common but easy to treat. So tell a dr. how you feel and ask for Zoloft, an excellent antidepressant.-------

    It takes 2-3 wks for your body to adjust to it during which time you will have trouble staying asleep. But, after that, you will become a relaxed, confident, healthy person.---------------

    To help you sleep better: Eat No spicy food for dinner. Soak in warm bath with fragrant candles. Drink hot cocoa. Take Melatonin (otc) sleep aid. Sleep in a comfy bed - alone.------------An stop drinking/drugs. Alcohol is a depressant, so you are just making yourself more and more depressed.

    You sound like the quintessential borderline! See a psychiatrist as soon as possible. Something isn't right here.

    Sounds like you need some motivation in your life or a goal that you can work towards?

    Sport?

    Writing music?

    Fashion design? Etc...
