Republicans - have you read your party's platform yet? It violates a couple pretty important principals in this country...?
...but the biggest one is this. It basically says that large sums of money can be spent on political candidates by...whoever...whenever...and however...AND that NO AMENDMENT TO THE U.S. CONSTITUTION CAN CHANGE THAT.
What? So, the 50 states ratify and amendment to the Constitution and Republicans would IGNORE THAT? As in, the Constitution MEANS NOTHING NOW?
Have y'all lost your minds?

Such a restriction on free speech would definitely be in conflict with the First Amendment. It's somewhat of an open question whether the first 10 amendments (the Bill of Rights) can be amended, since several states made adoption of a bill of rights a condition when joining the union.
As a practical consideration, no amendment restricting freedom of speech is ever likely to be ratified, so it hardly matters. Beyond that, party platforms have no legal standing and few people even read them anyway. For example, the current draft of the Democratic Party platform wants to prosecute anyone who disagrees with the theory of anthropogenic climate change. How much of the First Amendment would have to be shredded to allow that to ever happen?

You're not quoting the Republican Party Platform. The 1st Amendment guarantees free speech. If you want to propose an Amendment to abolish free speech, then good luck trying to get 2/3 of the House, 2/3 of the Senate, 3/4 of the States to give up their rights, communist.

The GOP knows this. They like things the wy they are. How else are they supposed to collect bribes from the Chinese, Russia, North Korea, and ISIS?
Oh, but you say they don't do that? Well, it sure looks like they are taking money from America's enemies -- and conservatives have -- because of their own rules -- absolutely no way of coming up with a shred of evidence to refute the accusation

Why not? You are free to spend as much as you want, just like anyone else. Public or private. It's equal freedom for all.
