What causes no RPM reading while idle?
My Chevy Silverado seemed to lose power when the AC was on and idling for a while. Yesterday I leaved the truck parked for about 40 min with the engine running and AC on. When I got back it was still running but the AC was blowing warm air at a very low pressure, the Temperature gauge was almost on its limits (hot), and it had no RPM readings (like if it was almost on 0). So I shut the engine off. TO'Day I turned the engine and all seemed to work. However it the RPM is on 0 while idle.

I don't know about the 0rpm reading, but if your truck has an electric cooling fan, you should check that it runs whenever you turn on the air conditioner. If there is no electric fan you should check (carefully) the fan clutch, to verify that the engine fan is being driven at full speed when the engine is hot? If there is not enough air being pulled through the radiator, the engine will overheat and you will get no AC cooling.

Something wrong with the taco would be why its not working at low revs. the ac probably didn't work because the heat from the engine over heating caused it to go out on hp if it works on the open road thats the case anyway if the truck left the factory with a clutch fan or mechanical fan and someone has taken it off and put an electric thermo fan on it will be why.

Don't leave it idling for 40 minutes in the heat, it was never meant for that.

It simply sat too long in the heat. There's no real airflow over the radiator to remove the heat from the coolant flowing through the engine.
