I am assuming you are traveling from or within the U.S. The TSA is only interested in preventing weapons and explosives from getting aboard aircraft. They are not involved with age-related enforcement.
For the record, the TSA does not confiscate anything. Only law enforcement has the power to confiscate. Passengers with prohibited items is asked to exit the checkpoint and either go to the ticket counter to have it checked into checked baggage, have it mailed via mailer kiosk, drop it off in their car, or given to someone on the public side. Voluntary abandonment is a last resort in which case the item is sent to recycling or a landfill. In checked baggage, items prohibited from boarding aircraft is either given to the airlines (ex. hazardous materials which violates FAA regulations) or law enforcement (ex. improperly packed firearms or loose ammunition.) In other words, you are given a choice. Confiscation does not give you a choice.

Security is not the Cigarette Police.
Air Crew are not the Ciarette Police.
Going to some other country? Customs is the Cigarette Police.

No, the security officers couldn't care less if you are ruining your health and aging your skin. They only care if you are a threat to other passengers. Don't take any lighters in your carry-on.
