What would the point of forgetting our lives on Earth when we get to Heaven?
What is the reason behind people thinking we'll forget our lives on Earth when we get to Heaven? I keep hearing two different reasons, but neither makes sense to me. The first one is that remembering life here would show sadness into Heaven, but I can't imagine that to be the case. How could you ever feel sadness when in the presence of God? No matter what horrible things you went through, in life, there should be nothing that could make you sad when you get to Heaven. The second is that people seem to think that you forget, that way you have no personal ties to anyone else, and can live completely for God. But, would you even make it to Heaven in the first place if anything could keep you from living for God?
Maybe I'm missing something, but I remember the Bible making mention of people in Heaven remembering life on Earth. Both Abraham and Elijah were able to remember. Not only that, but their new bodies must have either looked the same as their old bodies, or they must have had some way of communicating who they were, because people recognized them without being introduced. The story of Lazarus and the Rich Man also states that people on both sides can remember. I know this was a story, and not something that actually happened, but Jesus was the one telling the story. I have a hard time believing that Jesus would lie about what would happen in Heaven.

Life is just a test & you will have whatever you desire in heaven. The main person who will be with you is your spouse(if you didn't have one on earth or she/he didn't make it to heaven, you have one in heaven). The main thing is,God already knows what you want and what you will get in heaven,so it's already prepared for you. Of course you will remember family, etc but if you didn't want that, God already knows it.The other thing is, when you have children/grandchildren they will also have their own spouse to enjoin with in heaven. Everyone in heaven has a spouse that they will live and enjoy with, and you can also have whatever you wish or think of.As for pets, if you want it, it will be there.God knows best. But some things in heaven you have to earn on earth, like alcohol, etc. If you drink on earth, you won't have it in heaven. However, you won't even notice it or realize because you just won't have it there. You won't know the difference &won't even think of it if it's not meant for you.

Jesus taught of bringing Heaven on Earth. He did not concern himself with life outside of The universe. He wanted to bring The Fathers Kingdom here and NOW. Stop worrying about death and focus on life my brother.

I am baffled by people who seem to actually believe that there such a place as heaven. Just how far fetched and ridiculous does a story have to be before you don't believe it? Is there anything too stupid for you?
There is no heaven and no god.

Read Isaiah 65. It tells you that "this life will be little remembered nor EVER come to mind". It is the only way life could be fair, a lot of people have AWFUL LIVES. Be grateful you had a good one.

We are told to love our brother as ourselves. That is one of the greatest commandments. Yet once in heaven God supposedly wipes your memories of your loved ones that It is enjoying torturing in hellfire. There goes the first commandment, there goes the neighborhood. You can't make sense of nonsense.

Sigh........Jesus said nothing about this in the Bible. So this is some Christian's opinion of what Heaven is like. this isn't scripture. this is imagination.

I was born to parents who were psychopaths, I suffered abuse you wouldn't want to even dream of in your worst nightmares. My life has been an endless journey of trying to heal. Why would I want to remember it?

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 KJV
God will allow you to remember sadness a short time. Then he wipes it all away forever.
