Making seltzer in a keg?
My family spends quite a bit of money on cans of seltzer, and we have a spare fridge. I was thinking about making a seltzer system. From what I've read, all you need is a five gallon key, a CO2 tank/regulator, a tap, and the hose fittings.
From there, you just fill the keg with water, chill it, and let it carb under pressure?
Is it really that simple? Is there anything else I need?

You don't need a keg. You just need the CO2 canister and the right equipment to pressurize and carbonate bottles.

Part of what makes seltzer water taste the way it does is the blend of minerals added to it during manufacture. If you end up going the DIY route, consider using a decent reverse-osmosis filtration system to fill bottles before carbonating them, to avoid lingering chemical flavors from low-quality tap water.

Yes, this will carbonate the water. You can speed up carbonation by jacking up the pressure and shaking it for a bit.
