Is it actually legal to lie as a stock broker?

I was watching wolf of Wall Street and Id be really surprised if it actually was/is legal

    Yes it is illegal for some one who is registered in the securities business to lie to customers and/or to others in the financial community.

    I hope you don't believe everything you read or see in the movies. Much of the movie was for entertainment, not to portray reality.
